Rev. Mark E. Brophy,
Senior Pastor

Mark Brophy resides with his wife, Barbara in Leesport. He began his ministry at Alsace on August 15, 1985 as Associate Pastor. He became the Senior Pastor on November 14, 1993.

Pastor Brophy is responsible for the administrative affairs of the congregation, provides pastoral counseling and crisis care, oversees pastoral visitation of the congregation and supervises the worship of Alsace. He shares the pastoral acts of baptisms, weddings and funerals with the Associate Pastor. Along with his many responsibilities here at Alsace, he is also involved in many areas of the community.

Rev. Richard A. Nelson,
Associate Pastor

Rev. Richard Nelson resides in Fleetwood with his wife, Leanne and children, Rachel and Aaron. He began his ministry with Alsace on September 1, 1995.

Pastor Nelson provides programs and leadership for the youth of Alsace. He oversees the ministry of the Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Church Camp. He also instructs the Catechetical Classes and meets weekly with a Bible Study Group. Along with the Senior Pastor, he shares the pastoral acts of baptisms, weddings and funerals.

Rev. Charles E. Fair,
Pastor Emeritus

Rev. Charles Fair resides with his wife, Louise in Wyomissing. He began his ministry at Alsace on January 1, 1960 and after serving Alsace faithfully for 33 years, he retired on October 30, 1993.

Even though he retired from Alsace, he did not slow down. He serves as Visitation Pastor at Holy Spirit Lutheran, Reading and as Interim Pastor at St. James Evangelical Lutheran, Reading. He is also involved in many groups and committees in the community.

David Rutt,
Music Director

David resides in Muhlenberg Township with his wife, Norma. They have 2 sons, Chad and Travis, as well as Lillian, his granddaughter. In addition to being Music Director here at Alsace, he is also a full-time Music Teacher at Northeast Middle School.

Dave is responsible for the supervision of the Music Department here at Alsace. He directs 6 Choral Choirs, 2 Handbell Choirs and the instrumental ensembles. He plans and orders the music for all 8 choirs. He arranges and chooses most of the music for the "Six for One" Sextet. Along with our Organist, he provides direction for the music of Vacation Bible School and Church Camp. Even with his many responsibilities at Alsace and Northeast, he is very involved with his granddaughter, as well as his private singing students. He also plays trumpet with the Reading High School Alumni Band.

Dave also heads up the Music Committee as well as the Derr Fund. These two groups are putting together a concert series that will cover a variety of different venues.

Upon retiring from school teaching, he plans to do some musicals at Alsace as well as becoming more involved with the church.

Nina Rowley,
Organist

Nina resides in Exeter Township with her husband, David and two children: Matthew, who is a student at West Chester University, and Katie, who is a student in the Exeter Schools. Nina and Dave have been married since 1979. Nina was born at Fort George G. Meade Army Hospital while her father served as Lieutenant Colonel in the Army. In addition to service as Organist for Alsace, she is employed full time as a Middle School Music Teacher at Southern Middle School in Reading. She has been there for 29 years. She began her music ministry at Alsace on March 11, 1990.

Nina plays for two worship services each Sunday morning along with accompanying some of the choir rehearsals. She assists the Music Director with the programs for Vacation Bible School and Church Camp. She is the organist for most weddings that are held at Alsace. She is also responsible for the minor maintenance of the organ.

Cynthia Speicher,
Parish Secretary

Cynthia began as Parish Secretary on September 10, 1997. She resides in Laureldale and has been coming to Alsace since her parents joined in April, 1963.

Cindy reports directly to both the Senior and Associate Pastor. Some of her responsibilities as secretary include preparing weekly bulletins, preparing a monthly newsletter, answering phones and keeping updated records on church membership. She assists different committees in making copies or preparing information for them. In addition to working in the office during the day, she participates in two choral choirs and a handbell choir. She is also a youth advisor with the Senior Youth Group and is a staff member for the Church Camp.
